This example is a buckling ceiling not moisture damage, indicating structural issues

Example 1

This is an example of a major structural problem- a common practice is putting up new drywall over existing drywall, then attaching the kitchen cabinet, to fix up the kitchens appearance. Upon close inspection, at the very top of the cabinet the upper shelving contains plaster crumbles. This might be just overlooked as being unclean, or shabby workmanship. Instead, what is happening here is the house is compressing on this side, causing the plaster to crumble off the walls.

Example 02

A typical miss-leading look, two walls in this basement were sprayed with foam,  along with new studs, while the other studs in adjoining walls were left alone. It may seem like a renovation has  begun, in this case the home owner claimed as such. After careful examination, it was noted that this in fact is  concealing a large water penetration problem  into the basement. The exterior landscaping being put in place just recently also confirms this.

Example 03

In this particular situation, the current owner did not cover up this crack-intentionally to take away from seeing the real issues. This is a plastered wall, plaster is known to crack and move with the seasons of a house however, this house is from the 1980’s, plaster was not used anymore. The other rooms were drywalled, The adjoining bedroom to this room is also plaster. It is not clear why plaster was used in these rooms rather than new drywall and what is hidden here. A plastersizer may have been used in the mix making the material flexible and to slow the cracks from reappearing. The basements has filled in cracks and the floor is freshly painted. This  would indicate that this house is being ripped apart and the whole side with the location of these rooms is being pulled away.
